I was lucky enough to speak to the lovely @sarsparilla_today - a fellow Australian Artist.
Sara is from Sydney and has worked in the Fashion Industry for 10+ years. She studied fashion at the Whitehouse Institute & built the majority of her career in design & development for apparel brands such as Marcs.
Here is what she had to say about the piece above:
This piece was inspired by the iconic fashion model & blogger Coco Rocha @cocorocha
She is not only an incredible talent, but an admirable activist & charity campaigner. For this multimedia piece, I used a combination of watercolour, ink, pencil & graphite. I was inspired by 1940's styling & textures used in the shoot which a drew reference from, but more than that, her eyes really spoke to me, and I tried to capture that in this work. Coco was actually kind enough to notice the piece after I completed it, and honoured me by featuring it on her own Instagram account, alongside the work of 3 other talented artists who had created portraits if her.
In the last year or so Sara decided to change direction & dedicate herself solely to fashion & beauty illustration. She says this change in her career has been incredibly rewarding.
